The Ripple Effect Program brings youth together to take climate action for protecting oceans. Through this program, students will understand the need for climate action for ocean protection, such as in coastal communities, through effective ocean policies and explore how a blue economy ensures sustainable development of ocean resources.

Junior Activities for Grades 4 to 8
Protecting Our Oceans - Students will learn about ocean policy and its objectives, international ocean governance and its importance and the application of ocean policy in Canada.
Sustainable Oceans Industries - Students will learn about a Blue Economy and its industries, including jobs that are important for sustaining a healthy Ocean.

Senior Activities for Grades 9 to 12
Float on with Argo - Students dive into ocean monitoring with the international Argo project. They learn how scientists observe water properties like temperature and salinity to understand and monitor climate change.
How to Conduct Ocean Policy Research – Students will understand policy research and its application. They will conduct research to find resources that help in understanding and interpreting policy and gain a high-level understanding of conducting policy research.
What is Ocean Policy – Students will learn about ocean policy and its objectives, international ocean governance and its importance and the application of ocean policy in Canada.
What is Blue Economy? – Students learn about the blue economy, its characteristics and objectives, and understand the application of blue economy in real world scenarios.
The program is designed to meet the needs of specific grade groups and subject areas. The activities have various learning and take-action activities to offer a thorough learning experience while providing opportunities for students to take action to create real-world impact. The program features a variety of learning activities with background information, an educator guide, a glossary and easy-to-use lesson plans. The activities and challenges are authentic, real-world challenges. They incorporate hands-on activities, digital simulations and explorations into environmental issues that students are concerned about.
