Going Green with D-rop: Water Conservation

Elementary

Description

One of a series of short videos featuring D-rop an environmentally conscious water drop character, this episode focuses on water conservation.  D-rop leads students through some easy water saving tips that all centre around personal hygiene activities such as showers and baths.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

For younger grades this video provides an opportunity to blend health, science and social studies outcomes.  A class could identify and create a chart of the types of hygiene activities they observed while also learning about water saving actions.  Older students could conduct a personal water audit where they record data before and after the implementation of water conservation activities.  A class could also compare water availability in Canada to other countries and describe how a lack of access to abundant clean water could impact human health.
