Fast Fashion The T-Shirt Board Game

Secondary, Middle

Description

The Fast Fashion: The T-Shirt Board Game is an activity designed to explore the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion while encouraging sustainable clothing practices. Students play a board game in which they navigate the lifecycle of a T-shirt from production (ethically or sweatshop made) to eventual disposal or reuse while collecting "Wear Tickets" to promote longer use cycles.

The activity begins with brainstorming shopping habits and discussing the concept of fast fashion.  Following game play students reflect on fast fashion, surprising facts, and actionable steps to reduce their "textile footprint." The session aligns with Sustainable Development Goals and fosters awareness about ethical and environmental issues in the fashion industry.

  • Organize a classroom debate on the ethics and sustainability of fast fashion.
  • Students analyze the economic model of fast fashion versus slow fashion.
