Water Crisis

Elementary, Middle

Description

With bold images of pollution, extreme weather events and wasteful water practices this video challenges students to consider the impact of global warming and exploding world populations on water availability.  Our planet is getting thirstier and watching this film will cause youth to question how we can keep damaging our most precious resource.  The young voices in the video urge their peers to become blue stewards to ensure clean drinking water for all.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

This video would make a great introduction to a classroom action project focused on water conservation.  Students could investigate the amount of water wasted through daily activities that occur at home and school.  Then they could create a presentation about wise water use and deliver it to other classes.  Students could also explore water availability in Canada compared to other countries.  A class could even implement a citizenship project where funds are raised for an organization that provides clean drinking water to poorer regions of the world.
