Description
Through interactive play on a life-sized game board, students are introduced to three of the most common greenhouse gases and their role in the natural and enhanced greenhouse effect. Teams add or remove greenhouse gases from their shared atmosphere to experience the effects of human actions.

General Assessment
What skills does this resource explicitly teach?
The activity helps students understand those skills associated with analyzing cause and effect and hypothesizing as to the possible effects of selected actions. It also helps students analyze their ecological footprint.
Strengths
The lesson plan provides the teacher with a well constructed framework of questions to guide student thinking and investigation of the greenhouse gases and their effects. The game provides a tactile experience that helps students to better internalize and remember what was learned.
The lesson includes imaginative and effective strategies for determining the students understanding of the issues addressed and a number of interesting extension activities.

The resource should be used as an introductory activity in the study of climate change.
