This interactive site invites students to write a message about climate education. The online tool allows students to be inspired by young changemakers from around the world and to create a personal 100 word message that will be shared with decision makers.
The students will participate in four steps online:
1. They will first watch three short one minute videos of young changemakers from around the world explaining why climate education is important.
2, Next, the students will read two short stories of young changemakers who are acting on their learning.
3. The students will take an online quiz to find out what type of climate change maker they are.
4. Finally, the students will write a 100 word message about why it is important that everyone receives climate education. The messages will be displayed in an online gallery. They can be written using the online tool or completed on paper and uploaded. There is also an option for personal student information to not be shared.
This online tool would fit nicely into a Science unit relating to weather, habitats or ecosystems with a connection to climate change. It could serve as a final activity after the students have learned about climate change and its effects, in order for the students to be more persuasive in their 100 word message about why climate change is important for all.
