Wonderful World

Secondary, Middle

Description

This short video offers brilliant footage of the absolute beauty of our natural world highlighting the biodiversity of the Earth's plant and animal species, living in a variety of habitats. These powerful images, often shown with time-lapsed photography are accompanied by the voice of English broadcaster and naturalist David Attenborough speaking the timeless lyrics of the Louis Armstrong song "What a Wonderful World."

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

The video can be used as part of an introduction to courses dealing with the environment. (Environmental Science, Geography, Earth Science) and to support outcomes dealing with the biodiversity, habitat protection, and appreciation of the natural world.

It could be used to promote discussion in geography and social studies classes with regards to the important role society has in making sustainable choices for the future. It would also be a valuable video tool to"kick-off"Earth Day activities at any level.
