Microplastics:

Where are they coming from and why does it matter

Secondary, Middle

Description

Researcher Peter Ross provides viewers with a compelling message about the dangers posed by microplastics. Topics include the nature of microplastics, primary vs secondary sources and the problems they create for wildlife, the economy and food security. The film makes the point that ‘we are living in a cloud of plastic dust’ and understanding 'where these pollutants come from' is the key to developing the conservation, education and technological steps that will lead to effective solutions.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

In addition to introducing students to the nature and importance of microplastics this video can serve effectively as part of a compilation of resources that address the broader issue of plastics in our environment.
