Millenium Development Goal Seven- Clean Up the Environment

Description

Using a case study from Haiti and their own local experiences, students examine threats to environmental sustainability and predict the future consequences of not addressing these problems and concerns.  The activities students engage in include:

  • Analyzing a poster of the Port-au-Prince slum with the millennium goal of Clean Up The Environment by 2015 written below it.
  • Examining one week's worth of school lunch packaging and exploring the larger issue of garbage production/management in their own community
  • Taking part in a 'true or false quiz' based on a case study of life in a Haitian slum
  • Researching climate change and discussing what the future holds.
